7th Sunday of the Ordinary Time


1. Today, 20th February we will hold annual catechism examination at 8.15 am and on coming Sunday, 27th February, we will celebrate Catechism day during 9.30 am mass, followed by prize distribution. We request the parents to be present along with the children for the Catechism day celebration.


2. On 2nd March, we start the Lenten season with Ash Wednesday.  We request our parishioners to attend the mass and adhere to Catholic teachings regarding abstinence, penance and fasting.  As usual we will send envelopes for Lenten campaign collection through the gurkars.  The amount collected will be sent to CODP towards repairs of the houses of the poor and needy all over the diocese.


3.   We begin First Holy Communion catechism on Saturday, 5th March.  We request the parents to be present in the Church with First Holy Communion candidates on 5th March at 4.00 pm to discuss the catechism schedule and the details of the First Holy Communion on Divine Mercy Sunday.


4.   As we are celebrating the 400th anniversary of the canonization of our patron St Francis Xavier, we intend to hold a spiritual renewal of parish community. Keeping this mind we will be organizing a retreat from Monday, 7th March to Thursday 10th March. Bro Joel Lasrado and his team will preach the retreat. Then on Friday 11th March we will organize a Symposium on the life and mission of St Francis Xavier. Thereafter on Saturday, 12th March we will have thanksgiving mass presided over by the Bishop of Mangalore followed by stage programme, cultural and dinner on this occasion. We cordially invite all our parishioners to participate in this triple celebration.


5.   The gurkars or the ward representatives will bring to you the invitation for the triple celebration of canonization of St Francis Xavier along with a memento. We request all our parishioners kindly to accept the invitation and the memento.


6. We have completed the annual blessing. We request the gurkars to make arrangements for the blessing of those families which were left behind because of covid or other reasons.


7.   We warmly welcome all the new families who have recently moved to Bejai parish. During the annual family blessings we noticed that in many families there is no statue of St Francis Xavier. We are willing to arrange for the blessed statues of St Francis Xavier.  It costs Rs. 600/-. Kindly contact the Church office at the earliest.


8.  We have received annual ‘kaido’ from 784 families.  We request the rest of the families to support us through this annual contribution at the earliest.


9.   Continuous protests will be held in front of DC office demanding the police department to arrest the offenders involved in the demolition of the prayer hall in Kulur, from Thursday, 24th February, under the leadership of Catholic Sabha. We request Bejai parishioners to join hands with Catholic Sabha members on Monday, 28th February from 1.00 pm to 5.00 pm.


10. We will be undertaking the repairs and renovation of the church sound system as well as major repairs of St Francis Xavier Kannada Primary School. We request our parishioners to contribute generously towards these projects.


11.  Those who like to avail housing facility in Nazareth colony, kindly contact St Vincent De Paul Society members.


12. We request our parishioners to send articles and advertisements to our Easter issue of Izaicho Kollo before 28th February.


13.      The English Choir is in need of new members including musicians.  Whoever wishes to join the English choir may contact Mr Elton D’Souza or the Church office.


14.   Mr Melwyn Rodrigues, Church A - St Luke ward, has been conferred the prestigious Sandesha Konkani Sahitya Award for the year 2021-22.  We congratulate him and wish the very best for the future.


15.   This year Fuddar Prathisttan Puraskar-2022 will be held in March for the categories of 10th, PUC, Diploma, Degree and Post Graduates. For applications please contact the Church office.  The last date for submission of application will be 28th February 2022.


16.    Meetings:

a.    There will be a meeting of Parish Pastoral Parishad today, 20th   February at 9.00 am in LCS Auditorium.

b.   Sunday : 7.00 a.m. mass – Secular Franciscan Order


c.    Sunday : 4.30 p.m. mass – Mother Theresa ward, New Road
