8th Sunday of the Ordinary Time

1.  Today we celebrate Catechism day at 9.30 am mass followed by prize distribution. We invite the parents kindly to join their children in this celebration. We remain grateful to the catechism teachers, catechism children and their parents for their involvement in faith formation activities all through the year.

2.    On Wednesday, 2nd March, we begin the season of Lent. We have masses at 6.00 am, 7.00 am, 8.30 am, 4.00 pm and 5.00 pm on Ash Wednesday.

3.    On Ash Wednesday, kindly remember to follow the norms of fasting and abstinence. As usual, the Ash Wednesday contributions will be used for needy patients through Medical Fund.

4.     On Ash Wednesday, 2nd March from 6.00 pm to 7.00 pm we will be organizing silent human chain from Mary Hill through PVS Junction to Bunts Hostel Junction. The sentiments of Christian community have been hurt because of the discriminatory implications of anti-conversion bill placed in the assembly and demolition of Christian places of worship. We request all our parishioners kindly to join in this human chain formation within the boundaries of our parish. Gurkars will be coordinating the Human Chain Formation with the help of Parish Pastoral Council.

6.    We begin First Holy Communion catechism on Saturday, 5th March. We request the parents to be present in the Church with First Holy Communion candidates on Saturday, 5th March at 4.00 pm to discuss the catechism schedule and the details of the First Holy Communion ceremony on Divine Mercy Sunday, 24th April 2022.

As a preparation, a demo online quiz will be conducted on 5th March at 7.00 pm. The details will be circulated in WhatsApp group of the parish and the same will be displayed on the parish notice board.

8.    From Monday, 7th March to Saturday, 12th March we will be organizing the annual retreat followed by Symposium on St Francis Xavier and thereafter, commemoration of the 400th anniversary of the canonization of our patron, St Francis Xavier. We request all our parishioners to join in these threefold celebration. This week, the gurkars will bring the invitation to you along with the memento.

9.    On Saturday, 12th March, we will be celebrating the 400th anniversary of the canonization of our patron St Francis Xavier. As we could not hold the Parish Day celebration in January, we will be combining the Parish Day celebration with this event.  On this occasion we would like to honour those who have brought fame to our parish community. Therefore, all those who have secured 90% and above marks in SSLC, PUC and Graduate courses are requested to submit their personal details with a copy of the marks card by this Monday, 28th February.
